Recruited as a west coast reservist by Spider-Woman II in Avengers West Coast #93.
Large portions of Darkhawk's adventures from his original 50 issue series have been retroactively declared hallucinations following War of Kings: Darkhawk #1-4. The human mind was not designed to understand the Great Purpose of the Fraternity of Raptors, and his efforts to do so caused Powell rage issues, periods of madness, and distorted perceptions of the messages the Great Purpose was trying to convey through the amulet. Many of his allies and enemies from that time such as Ned Dobbs, Osch, Evilhawk, and Overhawk quite possibly did not exist at all.
Chris Powell was left to an uncertain fate in Darkhawk: Heart of the Hawk #1, sending his amulet to Earth to empower a new Darkhawk.
