Greer and William made an appearance at Nadia van Dyne’s birthday to discuss their weird relationship. Nadia was the long-lost daughter of Hank Pym and his first wife Maria, raised in the Red Room before eventually escaping and making her way to America. She surfaced after Hank’s merger with Ultron and was adopted by Janet van Dyne out of respect for Hank. Viv Vision was walking Nadia through her complicated family tree at the party – If Vision was considered Ultron’s son and Hank’s grandson, if Ultron’s creation Jocasta was Vision’s sister or step-mom considering she was based on Janet’s brain wave patterns, and a genuine 404 error trying to explain Wiccan and Speed. When discussing William, Tigra made it clear that the word “Skrull” was not to be spoken in her son’s presence. As far as Greer (and Nadia) were concerned, William was the biological son of Hank Pym and Nadia’s half-brother. [Unstoppable Wasp (2nd series) #7]

Moon Knight went through a rough period where his patron Khonshu pressed him into assembling the primordial powers and taking over the world in anticipation of a threat by Mephisto. Marc turned against the God of the Moon, eventually, but the Avengers still had serious doubts about him. He returned to fighting street level crime from his Midnight Mission in New York, providing protection for “travelers at night,” and also agreed to regular therapy with Dr. Andrea Sterman at the Avengers’ request. Marc had become far more open about his Dissociative Identity Disorder since he and Greer were last close, but in the end that was only one of his issues.

This all wasn’t enough for Avengers chairman Black Panther, who also asked Tigra to check-in on Moon Knight and report back to him. Greer was uncomfortable with this, but she understood Marc needed support. Tigra brought a nice helping of levity to the serious “Mr. Knight” and his Mission. Marc was working with a baby vampire named Reese while trying to reach an understanding with a second Fist of Khonshu called Hunter’s Moon. After hunting down Jigsaw and Rampage together, Greer finally got Marc to open up to her. Mr. Knight always wore a mask around the Mission because he couldn’t stand to look at himself anymore. Marc and Marlene Aulrane had a daughter named Diatrice, but they fled the country after the Age of Khonshu and cut all contact. Greer understood how much Marc was hurting, and she promised to spend time helping him at the Mission while William was off training with the Cat People again. [Moon Knight (9th series) #4]

One of Marc’s aids, Terry, was revealed as the super-villain Zodiac, who had a plan to break Moon Knight and send him down the path of being a true psychopath again. Greer tried to help Marc by grilling T’Challa for files on this Zodiac, but apparently the man was a ghost among super-villains. [Moon Knight (9th series) #6-7] Dr. Sterman was kidnapped by Jigsaw and another of Zodiac’s associates, the shape-changing Waxman. Moon Knight, Tigra and Hunter’s Moon rescued her out in Jersey, but only because Zodiac wanted them away from the Midnight Mission. He intended to kill the people under Marc’s protection and his aides Reese and Soldier, with Moon Knight too far away to stop him. A desperate Marc turned to prayer, reconnecting with Khonshu to open a path through the extra-dimensional hallways of his God to reach the Mission. Tigra opened up to Marc about spying on his for the Avengers, but Marc had already figured it out and didn’t care. He needed to be watched and he needed a friend. They made it back to the Midnight Mission in time to save the neighborhood and the only casualty was Soldier, who ended up being turned into a new vampire by Reese’s blood. [Moon Knight (9th series) #10-12]

Tigra was drawn by a spell into a new incarnation of the Defenders, charged by Eternity to identify an upcoming threat to the Eighth Cosmos. Greer felt somewhat out of place among cosmic players like Blue Marvel, America Chavez, Loki, and Taaia, mother of Galactus from the Sixth Cosmos. After an encounter with the Beyonders’ Omega Council in the Second Cosmos, the Defenders fell into the White Hot Room and were separated. There they interacted with different aspects of the Phoenix Force and primal forces, until Blue Marvel got word to Tigra of another force she might find in the Room. The Tiger God, the first thing mankind ever feared in the darkness outside the cave, also drew from the White Hot Room and Greer was uniquely suited to host its power. Cat beats bird, and the Tiger God gave the Defenders the window they needed to move past the Phoenix Force. There’s some indication Tigra may have remained avatar to the Tiger God even after their mission, whether she realizes it or not. [Defenders: Beyond #1-5]

Moon Knight’s next case involved Tutor and the Structure, the vampire pyramid scheme which first turned Reese against her will. Marc and Greer made an appearance at the vampire conclave where Tutor attempted to gain notoriety among vampire dens from around the globe. As a priest of Khonshu, Marc got the upper hand quickly by blessing the water in the sprinkler systems. Tigra’s silver plated claws made her viciously effective in what followed, too. [Moon Knight (9th series) #17-18] However, they were all less successful when the Harlequin Hitmen began targeting Moon Knight’s old network of informants known as the Shadow Cabinet. Around half of Marc’s one-time allies were killed before the Hitmen were disabled. Even worse, their condition showed signs of intense brainwashing, suggesting a higher player involved. [Moon Knight (9th series) #20]

For a while, Greer had been aware of an old foe of Marc’s called the Midnight Man being active again. [Moon Knight (9th series) #13] She was curious why he never made any move towards stopping Midnight’s high-end burglaries, but Marc dismissed it as some copycat outside his Mission’s territory hitting gangsters and rich people. Not his problem. Tigra took the initiative to do some hunting on her own, and she quickly figured out the scam. On his next heist, Tigra staked out the Midnight Man and ripped off his mask, revealing Marc Spector. Turns out, one of Zodiac’s ploys left Marc cash-poor, so he revived the Midnight Man motif to pay Reese and Soldier, get some information, etc. He just didn’t feel like Greer needed to know.

Tigra, in fact, felt she did need to know and was royally pissed off. She had gone to bat with the Avengers for Marc’s sake, defended his territory and invaded a tomb dimension for him. Since William came back from the Cat People, the three of them had been having regular movie nights together, with Marc always wearing his mask. She was falling in love with him again, and he thought he could lie to her. Tigra had to lie to her son every day, telling him that his father was a good man, that his father was a “man” at all and not a Skrull spy. More deception was just not something she could stomach in her life at the moment. Marc took her words to heart and showed up at her apartment without his mask, as Marc Spector and not “Mr. Knight.” He apologized to Greer and she forgave him, making their relationship official once more. [Moon Knight (9th series) #22]

Soon, one of Marc’s old foes seemed to genuinely return, as a new Black Spectre appeared on the scene. This Spectre freed the previous version and Zodiac from prison, was behind the Shadow Cabinet killings and ran Moon Knight through a gauntlet of his recent foes to get his attention. The Midnight Mission team determined Black Spectre intended to use the bedrock of Manhattan as a resonator to broadcast sound-based brainwashing over the entire city. Tigra, Moon Knight and Hunter’s Moon infiltrated the Mount, an abandoned building where Black Spectre had installed his studio at the penthouse. As they fought through his various enforcers and associates, one by one they fell behind. Tigra stepped on a concealed landmine and was forced to remain still as Soldier entered to disarm it, leaving Marc alone to face Black Spectre. He disarmed the device, but Marc was fatally wounded in the final fight, and Khonshu could no longer resurrect his Fists, locked away within Asgard. Moon Knight was dead. [Moon Knight (9th series) #25-30]

Greer and the Midnight Mission sat shiva for Marc Spector, and promised to carry on Moon Knight's work protecting his territory. Their grief was interrupted by a new Moon Knight intent on taking up the mission. His senseless brutality drew heat on the Midnight Mission from scared civilians and angry super-villains alike. "Moon Knight" used pepper powder to disable Tigra's nose in their first encounter, but she and Hunter's Moon soon worked out the truth. This Knight was actually the Shroud, trying to run from his failures as a vigilante by taking up the fearsome mantle of Marc Spector. Greer called Shroud on his cowardice, accusing him of stealing another man's reputation rather than fixing his own. Her words got through to Max Coleridge, who still wanted to do what was right, even though he'd lost track of what it looked like. [Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2nd series) #1-5]

Before they could fully make peace, however, Shroud's Darkforce flared up and grew out of control. Varnae, ancient Atlantean vampire progenitor in the body of Blade, magically used Darkforce wielders around the globe to blot out the sun and bring eternal darkness on Earth for the vampires to feed. The Midnight Missions coordinated with the Avengers and Doctor Strange to address the crisis, claiming they had a plan to raise an army that would stand against the vampires. Which was...technically true.

Even before the sun disappeared, Tigra and the Mission were not going to leave Marc Spector among the dead. They already had a plan to infiltrate Asgard and free Khonshu so the Moon God could resurrect his fist and son. Only now, they had a larger reason to do so. Tigra and Hunter's Moon traveled to Asgard with the help of Clea, accompanied by their hired super-villain, the Wrecker. His crowbar enchanted by Asgardian magic was the perfect tool for freeing Khonshu. Once he was loose, Khonshu brought them to his realm where he summoned the Fists of old, armed with the Moon's own silver, to rise and protect all the travellers of this endless night. And, at the front of this army, Marc Spector returned from the grave and reunited with Greer. They embraced and he apologized for leaving her, even if only for a short while. In the name of the Moon, they brought vengeance on the wild vampires of Earth, saving its people to walk freely and without fear. [Blood Hunt crossover]
