COSTUME GALLERY
1-S) Stakar traditionally wears a blue bodysuit and skullcap, leaving only his face and widow’s peak exposed. He wears yellow gloves and boots with a buccaneer’s flair as well as a yellow belt design resembling a star at the buckle. When he flies, his costume unfurls what he calls “solar sails.” They emerge as a set of loops from his backside. Although their overall shape evokes the image of wings, the sails are actually hollow, a set of thin strands extending back from each shoulder and connecting to the tip of his boots. A smaller, similar set of sails extend from his headpiece.
(Early in his career, Stakar wore a plasti-screen over his exposed face while flying through space. At the time, this was meant to explain how he could survive in vacuum, before the truth of his existence as an energy being was established. It was later confirmed the face screen merely allowed him to communicate with his children over vast distances, and he discontinued it after their deaths.) [Defenders (1st series) #27]
1-A) Originally, Aleta wore a mini-dress which mirrored Stakar’s Starhawk costume whenever she emerged. [Marvel Presents #4]
2-A) After their falling out, Aleta modified her raiment to distance herself from Stakar. She wore a black body suit with a bare strip reaching down past her navel. A golden cut resembling a one-piece bathing suit bordered this strip. She wore a golden half-cape, gloves and high-heeled boots, as well as a black choker. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #1]
2-S) As “Dark Starhawk,” Stakar’s design was basically the same. His belt, gloves, boots, sails, and insignia were now a deep blue, as was his face. His costume was default black, but also sparkled like a starscape. He displayed a more traditional-looking cape at times, like Aleta did, rather than the hollow solar sails of Stakar’s costume. Aleta did not exist as an independent being at this time, but as an astral voice who communicated with and through Stakar. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #21]
3-A) As Starhawk II, Aleta wore a costume modified from her previous look. She no longer wore a cape or had the golden trim on the front of her suit. The black bodysuit she wore now shimmered with the starscape pattern of Dark Starhawk’s uniform. By inheriting Stakar’s powers, she could now fly unaided and didn’t need light disks to support her anymore. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #33]
--S) After returning to Aleta and the Guardians through a divergent timeline, Stakar reverted back to his original Starhawk uniform. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #44]
--A) When she gave up the Starhawk identity, Aleta retained that costume temporarily. Now it was simply a black body suit which didn’t sparkle with a starscape anymore. Her eyes were also visible again instead of opaque with cosmic power. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #50]
4-A) Aleta eventually adopted an entirely new costume after separating from Stakar again. This red bodysuit came with a popped collar and an open pentagon on the center of her chest. She wore white boots and long white gloves, as well as padded red headgear that framed her exposed face. In battle, Aleta augmented this costume with solid light armor created by her powers, including shoulder pads, leg bracers and wristbands. [Guardians of the Galaxy (1st series) #52]
