COSTUME GALLERY
1) Kate’s first costume was an amalgamation of various Avengers clothes and weapons she found lying around the destroyed Avengers Mansion. This costume earned her the name Hawkingbird. It included Mockingbird’s mask and battle staves secured to her right leg, plus Hawkeye’s bow and quiver of arrows. Additionally, she used Swordsman’s sword and belt. The ensemble fit over her tattered, purple bridesmaid’s dress that added to the overall Hawkeye vibe. [Young Avengers (1st series) #4]
2) After Captain America took the Young Avengers original costumes away, Kate used her father’s money to design everyone brand new ones. For herself, she leaned more into the Hawkeye look with a skintight, purple, two-piece, leather outfit. The top was sleeveless on her right drawstring arm to give her better movement but still had a glove that extended up to the elbow. Heavy leather fully coated her left steadying arm for extra protection. A stylized striping on the sides, back and sleeve exposed her skin and the gloves were finger-less for improved dexterity. Her midriff was exposed but her bottom pants matched the top and fully covered her from waist to boots. Additionally, she had a couple of metal battle staves secured to her left leg and a sash that wrapped around and formed a two-pointed cape behind her. [Young Avengers (1st series) #6]
3) When Kate became the protégé of the original Hawkeye Clint Barton, the two rarely found themselves in costume when danger struck. Kate would almost exclusively sport purple in her various formal and casual clothes, however, and would occasionally don an official costume. This one was a simple full-length, light purple bodysuit with skin showing at the shoulders. The left arm was fully sleeved while the right arm was sleeveless. She also had two large (often commented on but never explained) hip holes that showed off more skin. She completed the ensemble with gray boots and gloves, a simple belt with circle belt buckle and a purple headband to hold back her hair. She would also often wear stylish, purple sunglasses. This would be her look for a long stint with only slight variations, such as in Young Avengers where she sported an advanced Kree-tech compound bow. [Hawkeye (4th series) #3]
4) Kate’s costume continued to be rather static with only slight alterations. For instance, when she took a road trip during the War of the Realms, her costume added a purple light jacket and a bow that shot magic arrows. Most shocking of all was the lack of her iconic hip holes. [War of the Realms: Journey into Mystery #1]
5) Kate slightly altered her costume when she traveled back to New York to help her sister. She still wore a full purple spandax suit similar to her previous costume but it showed practically no skin and appeared more armored on the torso and joints. The dark purple was offset with regions of black in the sleeves and pant legs and she still had functional gloves and boots. [Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #1]
