Operating under the effects of the Inversion spell, Doctor Doom sought redemption and formed his own team of Avengers to carry out benevolent goals now that the evil, inverted Avengers had squandered the name and banished the remaining heroes.
(One of the banished heroes was Valkyrie, and yet Doom still recruited a Valkyrie to his team. It's possible this was Samantha Parrington, who hasn't been heard from since Brunnhilda returned.)
