Upon suffering great injury, Jane Foster's life essence was bonded with the Asgardian goddess Sif in Thor (1st series) #236. They shared space and minds such that Jane was the active participant on Earth, while Sif took over while in the realms of Asgard. Sif's preference for Asgard, however, meant Jane Foster was missing and presumed dead on Earth for an extended period of time. She was eventually restored independently of Sif following Thor #332-335, and married Keith Kincaid in #336.
Jane Foster first appeared as the Mighty Thor in Thor: God of Thunder #25 and Thor (4th series) #1. She lost her godly identity after the destruction of Mjolnir in Mighty Thor #705-706.
