Prodigy I was an Alpha Flight character, II was Spider-Man, III was a member of the Slingers. David became Prodigy in New X-Men (2nd series) #2.

Like many mutants, David lost his powers on M-Day following House of M #8. He had the Cuckoos telepathically restore the accumulated knowledge his lost powers previously gathered for him in New X-Men (2nd series) #43. He eventually underwent resurrection protocols on Krakoa and regained his powers in X-Factor (4th series) #1.
